High Efficiency Filter Media for Aprilaire/Space-Gard 2400 (2-Pack) Equivalent to OEM Part# 401 These expandable "accordian" style, replacement filters are made to fit the Aprilaire/Space-Gard Model 2400 Air Cleaner. MERV 11 rated. They are non-OEM filters. The filters ship like a collapsed accordian and are expanded into a plastic frame within the air cleaner cabinet. The filter is snapped into the plastic frame and held in place with existing pleat spacers. Assembly instructions are printed on the product carton. The air cleaner media in the Model 2400 can last from 6 months up to 2 years. If installed on a 5-ton system, in the presence of high concentration of particulate, or if the furnace fan is on continuously, it may be necessary to change the media more frequently. In any application, the life of the media is dependant upon the total volume of air being moved through it as well as the amount of particulate it is filtering. This was a cheaper alternative than the original Space-Gard that I had been purchasing, but it is reflected in the cheaper materials that are used for its construction.
It fits fine and was as easy as the original to install, but great care is needed to not tear the filter as it is made of much thinner and more fragile materials than the original Space-Gard replacement filter.

I didn't know I had to change the filter. When a contractor openned up the unit and showed me what was in there it was gross!. The minute I replaced the filter the air moved more easily thru the unit, and it was quieter.

I wanted to save a couple bucks by getting this filter instead of the OEM, that was a mistake! The material used to make this filter is conciderably thinner than the OEM. I installed the filter in my cartridge and within just a couple of hours (running the furnace) the filter "sucked" into the fan. I reordered the OEM filter and have not had any problems. In this case you get what you pay for.
