I was nervous about tangling with the air filter -- the service guy always made it sound like it was a bit of a pain. This one is so easy, since I don't have to deal with those pesky combs! The only hard part was getting the first old one that I replaced out. Now it's a breeze. :)

So much easier to install than the accordian/comb style!! Only downside is that it is a bit bulkier to store (when you have an extra on hand), but it is worth it to me! Definitely would recommend this product.

Did not have a chance to see how good the product is because there was unusually cold weather in the Northeast US and I didn't get a chance to use my air conditioner. But I did love the idea of not having to use spacers. I also was very happy with how easily the filter fit in the frame. Making pre-fitted cartridge filters is a great idea.

Took less than a minute to read the instructions and 3 minutes to pull the old filter and insert this one. Compare that to the 15+ minutes it used to take to line up the inserts and make it fit. This is a no brainer - buy it.

The preassembled filter media takes the slumping variable out of this filter. The unit came with a folded filter with 5 "combs" that you have to be an artist to install neatly and evenly. It is the even spacing of the filter pleats that are critical to the filter performance. This pre-assembled unit goes into the filter in a minute. The high point is that the media is properly aligned to maximize filtration increasing the effectiveness of the filter.

The original filter was collapsable and required complex spacer bars to keep the folds separated.

Cant get any easier than this. Before these came along I spent a half hour in a hot attic (where my AC unit resides) threading the filter through an exasperating number of plasic pleats; usually one or two always ended up on the wrong side of the filter.
Now you just "pop" 'em in.

I like the fact that this filter is excellent for our home... especially when we are in the middle of our remodeling and we have kids who have asthma. This filter slid right into place. Much easier to use than the folded paper filter. The combs I had to previously use to keep the filter expanded were mostly broken, and the cost of replacing those made these ready-fit filters much more economical.

The original system included media and plastic combs that separated the media. The combs were subject to breakage and were expensive to replace. This media takes the place of the original media and combs/spacers. Easy to install and forget about. Thank you for this fine alternative to the original.

This is a great alternative to the typical media filter which uses those annoying space pleaters. This compact filter box slips right in in minutes! The only difference (aside from ease of use) is that the Aprilaire filter definitely has more pleats -- maybe 2x as many. Therefore, I suppose that the Aprlaire might be more efficient at filtering out more particles. However, with the ease of use of this product, I won't mind changing the filter anymore, which I always dreaded in the past!

This filter is pre-expanded and ready to use. It has a cardboard frame to hold everything in place and fits inside the existing plastic filter holder. It installs in under 5 minutes, as opposed to the hour it usually takes me because of the spacers/spreaders you have to use with the usual filter replacement. These spreaders break regularly; it was cheaper to buy these two filters than to buy the flat cartridge and spreaders. Overall a good buy and good decision.

Getting the pre-assembled filters is DEFINATELY worth the extra money. It makes it SOOOO much easier to change them out.

We use this product in our HVAC system in our Training Center Guesthouse.
They are very light and durable.Does not apply

This fully assembled filter is much easier to install than the origional replacable paper media. Buying online is also much better than traveling around town looking or calling several places trying to find the filters.
