This is the third Aprilaire 5000 I have installed. I continue to be impressed with the ability of the device to clean the air and offer a significant reduction in dust in the house.

We have several kids with asthsma and when combining this device with UV furnace lights we have noticed a significant improvement in their health.

I have looked at many other air cleaning devices but continue to come back to the Aprilaire as the best choice for air quality.

Installation can be a challenge if you are not used to working with sheet metal so contact a local HVAC company for help. We had ours installed for just under $200 (I did my own electrical so add another $100 or so if you need it done by a pro).

New advances from Aprilaire help to monitor the filter and indicate when it is time to replace the filter so this is the best one yet!

I would strongly recommend this filter to anyone that is interested in improving indoor air quality.

For the best indoor air quality add UV lights (Honeywell) and a whole house ventalator (Broan).

I recently had a new furnace and airhandler installed and to protect the longivity of my new equipement, I decided to go with a better air cleaner other then those 1" media's. After much resourch I found the Aprilaire 5000 has both the electronic and paper type media. The one drawback was it is 12" wide, that's pretty wide compared to other electronic cleaners, but the guys that installed my furnace did a real good job on some angles and such. It sites on the right side of my airhandler, no big deal the name plate is reversable. I then removed the front inside cover and turned the ON/OFF switch upside down. Now it looks like should go on the rightside of the airhandler. [...]
