Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

I found this thermostat to be easy to install, however programming the thermostat is a little bit time consuming. But once it was up and running, it works great and has helped to reduce our A/C bill. The only thing that I wish it had was a button to turn on a back-light on the display to read the temperature in the dark.

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

This is a really nice product, and keeps my upstairs bedroom much more comfortable.

However, it has a flaw: the main thermostat can be programmed to pay more attention to the remote during part of the day, and the main thermostat at other times, but it cannot be programmed to completely ignore the remote part of the time, and use it during other periods. This means that the temperature in my bedroom has quite a bit of influence on the downstairs temp. even when you would prefer to ignore the upstairs bedroom temp. during the day.

As a product improvement, I would like to be able to program it to ignore the remote (or the local) sensor entirely, part of the time. As it is, you can turn the remote (or local) sensor off entirely, but not as a programmed function.

Two other issues:
- The Outside Sensor described in the advertising and the user manual does not exist, and cannot be purchased.

- The thermostat seems to lose its setpoint occasionally - it will display 75 as the set-point, when the programmed period is set to 74, and it requires a complete reset to correct it and re-program everything. This takes about 15 minutes, and is a serious error-prone pain in the neck.

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

Was having a problem with competing thermostats - one side of house was always cold and one side was always hot and when you moved the thermostats temperature the situation would reverse...this solved the problem...just bring the remote thermostat wherever you want it to be that temperature and problem solved...I will probably eventually permenantly mount the remote sensors...but for now I am happy...I guess the other solution would have been to move teh hard wired thermostats...but this sure was quick adn easy and relatively inexpensive...

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

The product works great for situations where you spend most of your time, and the thermostat is no where near. Our masterbedroom is lower then the rest of the house, and the thermostat is up higher. Leaving the master bedroom much colder then the rest of the house. By installing the remote sensor in the master bedroom, we are not able to keep the master bedroom at the temperature we want with no problems.

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

Installed with a multi-stage heat pump and multi-zone system. Thermostat installed for only one zone (2nd floor with bedrooms, where the temp in one room was always different from room with existing thermostat). Installation was pretty straight forward, only hiccup was the power connection (old unit was power stealing, but wiring was available for direct power for this unit). Program working for one day / night, so far so good. We'll see how things work when it is time for the AC.

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

This product performs exactly as advertised. We were having trouble regulating the temperature in my daughter's room. It was hard for me to sleep knowing that she might be uncomfortable. I can honestly say that I have slept much better every night since installing this new thermostat.

I will caution that at random times the thermostat will run on default programming which is a little cool from my comfort. However, I believe that it may be caused by power surges from my home rather than the internal operation of the thermostat. A good surge protector should solve this problem.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was promt and in great condition.
I also had to call customer service to confirm my wiring configuration and they were extremely helpful, courteous, and fast.

Solid product - obscure directions

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

A good product with clear display, easy physical installation, & complex, but reasonably easily mastered programming. One feature I appreciated was the ability of the base and remote to re-link automatically after a power shut down and re-start at the panel.

The big problem is with the set-up instructions. They can be more that a little confusing and require constant shifting referral from section to section to complete the set-up process. Once it's done you're home free, but it can take a while and concentrated diligence to get there.

I am comfortable recommending and would buy again to use for the same type of install. To wit, a two-story building with an old mercury thermostat in a bad location downstairs causing ongoing and bothersome temp differential between floors.

Very functional, but not user friendly.
By Staying CoolVerified Purchaser from Central Florida, USA on 8/5/2008
Pros:
Easy And Discreet Display, Easy To Adjust, Easy To Install, Not Too Flashy, Only A Few Buttons, Precise Controls
Cons:
Confusing Controls, Hard To Navigate, NOT User Friendly, Transmissions Seem Slow
Bottom Line:

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

Overall, this is a nice thermostat. The build quality seems to be solid, and has been functioning as it should. The appearance is similar to the basic White-Rodgers thermostat that it is replacing, with the exception of additional on-screen displays. The remote sensor and the programmability, along with it's compatibility to our system are what influenced our decision to buy this model.Even though the thermostat options are awkward (to say the least) to adjust, it gets the job done. Other manufacturers seems to be going in the direction of larger display, touch-screen, etc, type of thermostats, and I can clearly see why. User friendliness. To be quite honest, due to the relative difficulty in using this thermostat's menu, I've really procrastinated in learning EVERY feature that it may have to offer. I've had it for a month or so.Not much good to say about the instruction book, but the manufacturer help-line seems to have knowledgeable staff. Wonderful service from [@] / National Trade Supply!

Service & Delivery comments:

Ordering this product was very easy. After using iaqsource.com and speaking to iaqsource customer service, I felt confident that I was getting the correct product for the best possible price.

My thermostat arrived on the day I was told it would, and was packaged very well. Regardless, I sure do hope that the delivery company was careful with it!

Everything is "A++" so far!

Comments about White-Rodgers White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 Thermostat and Wireless Remote Sensor Kit:

My non-movable thermostat was in a hall way that was always hotter than the adjacent rooms. Now, with a movable sensor, I'm not trying to cool off the hallway, only the rooms - much more comfortable and cheaper.

Great product. Tech line on wireing a bit missleading. Had to hire HVAC pro to wire correctly.
