We don't like the look of modern controls in an antique home, so the idea was to hide the thermostat in a closet and install the more discrete remote sensor in the room itself. The idea was that the remote sensor would override the control. Big mistake: When the closet door is closed, the heat cranks like crazy, since the temp gets read in the closet, too! I am not sure what the remote sensor does, as the control seems to work solely off its closet surroundings....

First, the only reason I had to replace my 18 year old Robertshaw was that I carelessly slammed the cover back on and broke a piece of plastic necessary to hold the cover in place. This new unit is so intuitive that you barely need the instruction manual. It is also very versatile, allowing much more control over times and temperatures. My only complaint is that with spring here, I'd like the afternoon temperature a little lower, leaving me to make changes on seven different days. With the old one, there was an offset temperature for when you were asleep or not home, and a regular temperature. Much less control, but only one change needed.

had every feature we were looking for. Only a couple other make/models I could find have 6 daily temperature periods. Cut our heating bill in half. Haven't had a summer yet to test the AC function. We use it to heat/cool an 80'x15'storefront room.
