This was one of the best purchases. We are grateful to have found prothermostats.com. They were way under what we could find it locally for professionals here. It's so easy to set up and change. It's attractive as well. We love the remote sensor to keep track of what is happening in the yard. It will come in handy when we need to know when to bring in tender plants in the winter. I've already recommended this to several friends.

It works like a breeze but it is pricey. The outside temperature sensor is fun but not essential. The remote might be used by some especially in a larger home. We use it to turn off the relatively noisy water-based heat pump units typical of NYC when we watch TV in living room.

This has a beautiful display, a laundry-list of features a mile long, is incredibly flexible in its programming abilities, I find it very easy to program and set up (more on that later), and is in a class all by itself. I looked at several other t-stats, and with the exception of the black and white version, this really is miles above the nearest competition.
My house was hit by lightning, and I had to replace my entire HVAC system. My contractor said I could pick out a t-stat, and he would install it for me. So, I picked this. I have always wanted an outside thermometer I could see on the thermostat, so this was great! In addition, it was fully programmable, touch screen, and in color. What I didn't realize was just how flexible and easy to set up it was. They packed a lot of power into an amazingly easy-to-use and friendly interface. Still, it's a programmable stat, and "techy," and some people don't like "techy." It's not as simple to use as the old dial wall stats I grew up with. But, the power you gain more than offsets the additional complexity.
I have a computer programming background, so setting up the t-stat was no problem for me. However, the contractor was a bit overwhelmed by it. The wiring is straight-forward enough, and it has connections for just about every option you could want, except perhaps an HRV/ERV. Then, you have to go into the setup menu to configure your equipment.
The contractor wired it up. Then, he turned it over to me and I programmed in the initial setup. It was easy enough, and I suspect that he could have done it, given a bit of time. It's just answering a bunch of questions. I asked him the question, he answered, I pushed the appropriate button.
That said, if you are intimidated by computers, this t-stat may not be for you. My wife is a bit overwhelmed by all its features, and she has taken to leaving setting the t-stat to me. This is OK, since I have set it to fully automatic mode. I love that I no longer have to switch between heat and cool - it just automatically does the right thing, based on the schedule. And with literally almost a dozen different override options, it's easy to temporarily alter the schedule - with a new schedule! Amazing!
So, if you like techno things, and aren't intimidated by computer technology, this is the best t-stat available. If your tech skills are limited to "twist the dial," you might want to get a simpler t-stat.
I will repeat - this is the best available, it's beautiful (it's the first t-stat I will look at just to look at it), and it is in a class all by itself. There's nothing else like it that I have seen. Highly recommended.

I haven't really gotten to use this thing yet with my 2heat/1cool HVAC system. The house is not done so I just have it on hold at 50^. I have gone through the menus and played with it and everything seems to work great, I just can't confirm it yet.

It doesn't get any better than the Honeywell Prestige HD. It is very simple to install, setup and program, and the color screen is gorgeous. This unit controls A/C, furnace, humidifier and dehumidifier; shows indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity; and has an intermittent fan option to circulate air in high-efficiency homes.
The only difficulty was finding the installer code to complete the setup and link the wireless outdoor sensor. The installer code is the "Date Code" on the Menu->Equipment Status screen.
